The Hidden Genius Project is currently accepting applications for its Intensive Immersion Program, which among its nationwide locations, is offered at the RYSE Youth Center in Richmond. The deadline to apply is Feb. 19, 2023.
The Intensive Immersion Program is open to Black male youth in 8th through 10th grades (rising 9th through 11th graders) for its Richmond cohort that will take place June 2023 through August 2024. The program commitment is full-time during the summer and after school and weekends during the academic year.
As the Richmond Standard previously reported, The Hidden Genius Project’s Intensive Immersion Program at RYSE hosts cohorts of 24 geniuses in the 15-month experience, during which the high school students are taught coding skills to develop tech-enabled solutions for their community’s own challenges. A flyer for the program said it exposes students to mentorship, entrepreneurship, tech exposure, leadership, college advising, business trips, networking and career development.
The program, operating in its sixth year in Richmond, has gained ample community support, with Chevron Richmond among its funders.
