Young people of color in high school are invited to explore exciting career pathways at the intersection of technology and sports at Tech Slam Baltimore on Friday, April 12 from 9:00am to 2:00pm ET at Coppin State University in the Physical Education Complex. This event, hosted by The Hidden Genius Project in partnership with TEAM, Inc., is designed to demystify, expose, and inspire youth of color to skills and networks that can guide them to exciting S.T.E.A.M. career opportunities.

At Tech Slam Baltimore, high school participants will:

– Play with technology while practicing coding and programming skills

– Break down sports footage using industry-leading, cutting-edge analytics software

– Learn about the various opportunity pathways that can lead to participation in the tech sector

HISTORY OF TECH SLAM: Too frequently, well-meaning adults counsel young sports enthusiasts to “get realistic” and come to terms with the idea that they will likely not be able to pursue a professional sports career. Tech Slam, a one-day sports and technology exposure event, aims not only to challenge the aforementioned narrative but also encourage young people—particularly youth of color—to explore exciting sports technology opportunities available to them today while building upon the strengths they already possess.

The cornerstone of The Hidden Genius Project is our award-winning Intensive Immersion Program. We’re currently accepting applications to our FREE, 15- month, cohort-based training program for Black boys and young men in Baltimore, Maryland.

Our dynamic mentorship program provides Black males in high school with upwards of 800 hours of holistic, trauma/healing-informed, high-touch mentorship and intensive training that seeks to develop youth into strong and responsible leaders equipped with coding and entrepreneurial skills, who can identify and develop tech-enabled solutions to address society’s most compelling challenges.
