Earlier this month our team returned from Saly, Senegal after hosting a series of innovative exposure-based programs in partnership with The Diambars Institute during their Sunu Xale initiative. This annual programming provides young talents at The Diambars Institute with educational and enrichment opportunities to support their growth and development.

From June 1 to June 8, our incredible group of Youth Educators (student alumni from The Hidden Genius Project) and staff introduced over 106 Academy learners (Diambars learner leaders) and non-academy students to STEM education programs at the intersection of sports and technology, artificial intelligence and image recognition software, and computer-based coding activities using our Genius Lab curriculum. Plus, we were able to serve young men from the NBA Academy Africa team, which was housed on the same campus. Overall, The Diambars students and leaders alike enjoyed bonding with our inspiring Youth Educators and learning about various technology career pathways through our programs.

Furthermore, understanding that many of their young people had limited or no experience with computers, we donated over 50 laptops to The Diambars Institute in partnership with Tech Exchange, an Oakland-based nonprofit dedicated to championing digital equity and accessibility for under-connected families in the Bay Area since 1995.

We look forward to collaborating with The Diambars Institute and multiple African-based education and social impact-driven non-governmental organizations to deliver dynamic STEM education programming in Senegal and South Africa in the near future.

Special thanks to The Diambars Institute, Tech Exchange, and TEAM, Inc. for their partnership and support.
