The Hidden Genius Project, a national nonprofit organization, was founded in Oakland in 2012 by five Black male entrepreneurs/technologists who were unnerved by the dramatic juxtaposition between the high unemployment of Black male youth and the plethora of career opportunities within the local technology sector.
To date, The Hidden Genius Project has demonstrated its ability to lead the way in closing the equity gap in technology, empowering over 10,300 young people through their exposure-based programs by activating, connecting, and mobilizing youth of color, especially Black male youth, to fuel their participation and leadership in the innovation economy.
