“Thank you to The Hidden Genius Project for making Brothers Code possible. Because it if didn’t happen I probably wouldn’t have felt as welcomed or be able to learn as much code as I did.”  -Quentin Collins (Bay Area)

On December 9, 2023, we hosted our 11th Annual Brothers Code event in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Detroit, and for the very first time in Atlanta and Chicago in partnership with Kapor Center. With the support of our Community Partners more than 400 youth and adults participated in a series of hands-on STEAM workshops designed to demystify, inspire, and expose them to technical and non-technical career pathways.

Special thanks to our sponsors—Uber, Marqeta, Smartsheet, Kaiser Permanente Thrive, Autodesk, The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation, and Goldman Sachs for helping to make our Brothers Code events a huge success.

YOUTH EXPOSURE-BASED S.T.E.A.M. WORKSHOPS

“We brought our students from Michigan Math and Science Academy to Brothers Code so our students can get hands-on experience about coding and bright it back to their classmates.” – MIMMSA Educator (Detroit)

From gaming to artificial intelligence to web development. Our alumni Youth Educators hosted a variety of exposed-based workshops that are designed to demystify and inspire young people to explore various STEAM-related career pathways.

ADULT CHAMPIONS TECH INTRO WORKSHOPS

“After attending Brothers Code I’d call it an essential destination for young Black boys looking for the exposure, foundation, and catalyst to propel them in successful careers in science and technology. Additionally, it was truly a pleasure to network with other Black tech professionals and enthusiasts.” – Tabari Seward (Chicago)

We firmly believe in empowering not only our young people, but also the adult champions in our communities. Our adult participants got to try out our platform Genius Labs and listen to career professionals discuss the future of the tech field.

COMMUNITY PARTNER EXPO HIGHLIGHTS

“Our Willliams-Sonoma Associates in Oakland and Atlanta had an amazing experience participating in the 2023 Brothers Code Event hosted by The Hidden Genius Project. To be able to share with the Genius’s in their program as well as the community how they can take their passion for technology and advance that to potential careers within Williams-Sonoma, Inc. was awesome! There’s a Tech community being built and The Hidden Genius Project is laying the foundation!” – Keith Sharp (Quality Assurance Manager)

Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about tech, tech equity, and STEAM community involvement from our various partner organizations that attended our community expo.

Special thanks to the following partners and sponsors for helping to make Brothers Code 2023 possible.
